Freelance journalist Cindy Hoedel is on the board of directors of Matfield Green Works, an arts and culture nonprofit in her adopted hometown of Matfield Green. In her 20-year career as a features writer and editor at the Kansas City Star, she won national awards for food writing, profiles and multimedia reporting, as well as best serious columnist honors from Missouri Press Association. She is an environmental advocate and is working on a storytelling project focused on connecting small Kansas farmers and ranchers who are committed to humane and regenerative stewardship with consumers who want to eat clean food.
