What happened and what’s left in the 2020 general election

Election Day 2020 has come and gone, but many races are still too close to call across the country, including here in Kansas. A week removed, counties now must canvass election results and cure provisional ballots in order to certify results.

Davis Hammet, president of Loud Light, a youth-focused organization fostering increased civic engagement in Kansas, discusses Election Day trends and concerns. Hammet also tackles what’s to come over the next few weeks as counties and the state certify results from a record-breaking election.

“We did have record-breaking turnout. We won’t have those final numbers for at least a month to know everyone who voted on Election Day, but it seems we really broke records from even 2008, which had been a record-breaking year.”
